As part of its commitment towards Net Zero by 2070, NTPC has taken the first step when the first stream of CO2 from flue gas of VSTPS U#13 was captured on the auspicious day of India’s 76th Independence Day. The event will pave the way for evaluating, establishing and scaling up of CO2 Capture Technology for “Greening the Coal Power Generation”

The test run of 20 TPD CO2 Capture Plant was done in presence of Shri Suvash Chandra Naik, CGM HOP VSTPS, Shri E Satya Phani Kumar GM (O&M), Shri Sujay Karmakar GM (Green Chemicals), Senior GMs and other Senior Official of VSTPS.

The 20 TPD CO2 Capture Plant is a part of 10 TPD Green Methanol Plant being set up at VSTPS where 20 TPD of CO2 shall be catalytically reacted with 2 TPD of Green hydrogen to Produce 10 TPD Green Methanol.

The CO2 to Methanol (CTM) Project has been conceived, designed, engineered, and awarded by NETRA and executed by VSTPS Green Chemical Department in coordination with NETRA.
